Aminosteril N-Hepa 8% is an intravenous amino acid solution by Fresenius Kabi, supplied in a 500 mL glass bottle. It is formulated for use as part of parenteral nutrition in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency, with or without hepatic encephalopathy, when oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient or contraindicated.

Key Product Features

The 8% solution provides 80 g of amino acids per litre. Its amino acid profile has a high proportion of branched-chain amino acids and a reduced proportion of aromatic amino acids. It contains no electrolytes or carbohydrates, allowing clinicians to plan those components separately within the patient’s nutrition regimen.

Clinical Use

Aminosteril N-Hepa 8% supplies amino acids as one component of parenteral nutrition; it is not a complete nutrition formulation on its own. Administration and the full nutrition regimen should follow the treating clinician’s assessment and the locally approved product information.
